It’s hard to believe that our sister studio, Flux, is about to celebrate one year of being in business.
This time last year, we were lovingly applying the finishing touches to our photography and filming studio.
The intention has always been that Flux is a space not just for Fluid’s in-house photographers and our clients, but also to hire our space out to other professionals in the creative industry.
Flux has established itself as a unique space in the East Midlands, with an open plan studio that has drive-in access to an infinity cove, ideal for automotive and fashion shoots, and a configurable kitchen space ready that offers a world of potential to photographers, art directors and content creators alike.
With high-end specs, and a central UK location, it’s a wonderful space that we just had to share with the creative community. Not to mention, it's a genuine and more cost-effective alternative to London and Manchester studios.
Between Fluid client work and external hire clients, Flux studio has had a wild first year…
There was the time we had 300kgs of sand delivered, to transform the infinity cove into a traditional seaside scene for Derby Theatre.
We also got ever so slightly starstruck when Kid Karam was the star of a Nike photoshoot and documentary shot at Flux by the team at MOVES Magazine. You may know him as a Team GB breakdancer, or the star of the British movie Breaking Point.
Our infinity cove was treated to a fresh coat of yellow paint ready to welcome Scholl to Flux studio, who commissioned a series of new brand imagery.
Norton Motorcycles brought a rather sexy looking two-wheeled metal machine into our studio for some dark and moody promotional shots.
We welcomed Fusion Allergy to the studio to create a range of social media content for their summer hayfever relief campaign.
And Optase popped along to shoot content for a new make-up remover product it launched in the UK and the US last year.
SC Johnson commissioned some photography to promote their suncream product – green-screened in Derby, and transformed into a striking ski-resort scene.
And we can’t forget the magical moment that Flux became a winter wonderland this Christmas, when Fluid invited disadvantaged families in the local area to visit our very own santa’s grotto to create special festive memories, in collaboration with some local charities close to our hearts.
So thank you to all those who have been part of our journey – we look forward to seeing what weird and wonderful creative ideas can be transformed into reality at Flux studio in 2025.
