Sammi is part of our fast-paced Design & Artwork team, helping deliver quality design to clients such as Derby Theatre and IVC Evidensia. Here, she tells us more about her role, as well as her personal passions.
My role…
I am a graphic designer in the Design & Artwork team. I have a couple of clients I look after day-to-day, working on a wide range of different design. I sometimes work with the Brand & Creative team on projects too.
My memorable project…
One of my first creative projects at Fluid was some branding for scare events at Screamfest. Although I am not a huge horror fan anymore, I have always loved Halloween (I even had a Halloween wedding) and this was just the most perfect brief. I went along to one of the nights to see everything in place and it was great to see it all out in the wild.
My favourite thing about Fluid culture…
I really love the wellbeing side of Fluid. I joined during a particularly unstable time in the world and Fluid did everything it could to make that feel normal. I work remotely a lot of the time because I live further away, and I still always feel like a part of the team. I think that is a huge part of what makes Fluid a fabulous place to work.
My dream client…
I love working on designs for kids. I think anything that sits in that category would be perfect for me. There are a few children’s clothing brands that I love that I think would be lovely to design for, like Frugi and Maxomorra. I also think CBeebies might be quite fun to work on.
Something surprising…
I used to play Roller Derby. I now have a lot of metalwork in my ankle, after a fall at practice.
On the stereo…
Taking Back Sunday - Tell All your Friends is my all-time favourite album but currently, Alexisonfire’s new album, Otherness, is getting an awful lot of play in my house (with a side of all things Taylor Swift of course!)
On the weekend…
I have small children so a lot of my time is taken up with their hobbies but we spend a lot of time exploring outside during our weekends. I do enjoy illustration and drawing in my spare time, and I also love baking.
On the box…
My favourite movie has always been The Nightmare Before Christmas and I have really enjoyed sharing it with my children, who are now fans! I love fantasy/sci-fi tv show but my absolute guilty pleasure TV show is Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve been watching since it started, and I just can’t give it up!
Dream dinner party guests…
Having people I would love to meet at a dinner party gives me massive anxiety but maybe Taylor Swift, I think she'd be fun to have a little party with and Mary Berry. In fact, maybe just all the presenters and judges from the Great British Bake Off over the years.
I think we might host that dinner party at Fluid…can you imagine?!
